Description

Saw this Sharp-shinned Hawk chasing a bird in my backyard. They both flew into the trees bordering my yard. I had my spotting scope with phone attached and found him in the trees. I guess he didn’t get his prey.

I first thought it was a Cooper’s Hawk, but the hoodie on the nape of the neck, big eyes, thin legs showed up when I scoped him.

Puget Sound area, suburban neighborhood.

Great shot AND description of identifying marks of this hawk that helps when you don’t see them often enough or for any more time than a moment. Thank you!
