Description

A rare visit by a Summer Tanager. This is only the third time I’ve spotted one in my yard. These guys are very much insect eaters, primarily bees and wasps, so I think this fellow just came to my feeder to see what it was that was drawing in the other birds. As soon as he saw it was just seeds, he took off again on his migration south.

Quick visit by a Summer Tanager male

I spotted a young male Summer Tanager foraging in my lawn near a tall hedge of cedars on May 28 2025. I saw him again scurrying under my neighbour’s cedar hedge the next day. Any other sittings this far north?
