This Sharp-shinned hawk was first spotted by my husband as he looked out our kitchen window on Sunday, Feb.4 . It was walking around on our patio for a while between the three locations where I have a total of 7 bird feeders. I ran to get my camera, and when I returned, he had hopped up on one of our patio chairs and then onto this fence. Fortunately we did not witness any hunting or eating.

Species: Sharp-shinned Hawk
A Sharp-shinned Hawk spotted in our backyard on Sunday--not too far from the feeders. This is our third encounter with a Sharp-shinned in the past three years. Twice we witnessed hunting and eating. This time he was just sitting on the fence looking for prey.
