Imagine my surprise to find this blue parakeet feeding in the backyard alongside sparrows, cardinals, blue jays and doves! He fed on the ground and the feeders as well and visited everyday during the summer of 2012. I actually placed some parakeet food in a separate feeder along with a cage toy (thinking I might catch it) but it went untouched. I don’t know if the parakeet nested with the other birds but it’s pretty amazing how he was able to adapt and live as a wild bird.
