Description

I was lucky enough to witness what seemed to be a day of “take off and landing practice” for some Canada Geese before their big migration last November. Dozens of them took off and landed, in waves in front of me that day, as I stood, transfixed on the shore of this small (urban) lake near my office. Paddling out into the centre of the lake, the geese would slowly turn into the wind, and then with much excited honking, take off … straight at me! It was such a thrill, seeing them so close, and actually hearing their feathers “whistle and whirr” as they flew overhead. I’ve had a hard time choosing just one photo from the dozens I took that day. 🙂
