I have been enjoying photographing these male cardinals in the snow. This photo I just took yesterday, December 17! The day was cloudy and grey but not terribly cold. I went to the park, sat in my car, rolled down the window and started clicking and this one just took off. I was fortunate that my camera autofocus stayed on the bird and caught so much detail. A friend commented that “this little bird has penache”! That gave me the title.
