Description

This male Golden-fronted Woodpecker is a regular at my feeders. First, I hear his chirps, so I know I’ll see him soon. Then, with his lilting flight pattern, he swoops in and stages at a nearby tree. Then, when it seems the coast is clear, he drops down to the feeder. Soon, after eating some corn and loading up with more, he’s out of there! I found a hole in his tree where he seems to store some corn, and sometimes, I’ll see him withdrawing kernels from it. I love this guy!
