Description

Glaucous-winged Gulls eat anything they can find on the beach– shellfish, seaweed, crabs, and in this case a large Sunflower Seastar. Sometimes these gulls break the starfish apart, eating one arm at a time. Sometimes they don’t seem to realize how big one starfish is to swallow whole!
