Usually Killdeer will scurry off, displaying a fake injury to attract their threats away from the nesting areas. However, this little bird was caught off guard while I was traveling along a dirt road and he/she froze dead in its tracks. It had no intention of moving or giving me opportunity to become its prey. So I took the opportunity to take several photos before moving on.
