Description

This young Cooper’s Hawk has pretty much taken up residence in our back yard and as you can see, she has a leg band. I was able to trace the band to the Wildlife Center http://www.thewildlifecenter.org/ up in Espanola and from them I learned that this is a young female who was brought to them as an orphan back in June. She was released in August and showed up at my house in December. The Wildlife Center people were overjoyed to get the news that one of their graduates was alive and doing well.
