It was a very cold weekend in the desert. We kept seeing a flash of color in the mesquite tree that we couldn’t identify. We were just about to go inside when we saw the most unusual bird in our feeder – a parrot! Much to my surprise, I learned there is a parrot found in CA, TX and FL that is called a red-crowned parrot. I hope this was a red-crowned parrot who was looking for a new home, and not someone’s lost pet.
