Description

Every spring when our Cherry Tree blossoms the House Finches come by the dozens to feed on the blooms. They pull off a blossom bite off the base eat it and drop the blossom only to pull another blossom and do the same thing. It looks like its snowing under the tree and within two or three days the tree is all but bare of blooms.

John Holman says:

Noticed purple finches doing the exact same thing today on our cherry tree. One blossom at a time, took apart a blossom to see if there was a seed, not so I could tell.

Dottie Stecker says:

I noticed today that my cherry blossoms were being eaten by birds, they’d snatch it off , take a taste and drop it to the ground. Amazing to watch!

Louanne Jones says:

I am noticing the same thing at our house. The house finches don’t seem to be eating the blossoms, just taking a tiny taste and dropping the blossoms to the ground. Weird!
