Description

I’d never seen a pileated woodpecker until this one flew into my yard this spring and landed on my front porch railing. It spent the day going from tree to tree on my property and at one point, investigated a bush (as you see here). I’ve since learned that at least two pileated woodpeckers live in the park across the street from my house, and at least once every week I hear their prehistoric calls. I’ll be putting out suet feeders for them this winter.
