Description

I was fortunate to get a chance to photograph this rather plain, but quite “famous” Mountain Bluebird just east of the city of Toronto.

It’s famous because its’ presence (just 1 female) in the Toronto area is a very, very rare occurrence (Western NA is its’ normal range) and especially for this time of year! It received an incredible amount of attention by local birders and photographers.

It was first sighted at the end of November and last sighted December 12, ’15.

I agree with the comment by Ellen.

It has been many years since I’ve seen a mountain blue bird. (I live near Buffalo, NY but I grew up in Idaho and lived in Oregon for 10 years.) And to think that just about an hour or two drive away, I could have seen, again, a mountain bluebird.

Thanks for this news!

And thanks for taking this lovely photo and sharing it on Birdspotter.

Thanks very much! Much appreciated!
