This little female Ruby-throated Hummingbird was nesting on a branch that was visible right outside a 2nd story window of our home. I was fortunate enough to get some pictures of her on the nest.

This is one rare opportunity photo. I had a similar experience nearly 20 years ago – just a chance eye to eye meeting of a female Ruby-throated feeding her two young in their nest. My photos were not as good as this yours. I keep looking for another experience like this so I can get a better photo.

I love seeing the detail of the lichen covering the nest. And the soft greens of the leaves are beautiful.

Lucky you to have witnessed the mother Hummingbird on her nest! Beautiful image.
