Description

Walking around Stanley Park on New Years Day, a commotion from deep in the shadows at one edge of a pond caught my attention. It was a young gull chasing a great blue heron in flight, both of them squawking. As they took off high over the pond, the heron suddenly wheeled down in this evasive maneuver, Letting the morning light spill through its extended wings. The apartments of the West End frame the birds.
