While photographing migrating ducks recently, I was armed and ready to capture this Cormorant as it struggled to flip the fish head first into it’s mouth and stomach. The fish (pickerel, I believe) was every bit as long as the Cormorant’s neck and I doubted the birds ability to take it in. After a mighty struggle, the bird downed the entire fish and drifted slowly away, stuffed!
