My husband and I were hiking at Sheriff Creek Sanctuary when we spotted two female mallards feeding. I took a number of pictures and was surprised to see this one was eating a snail. At home, I checked “The Birders Handbook”, and discovered that a mallard’s diet includes aquatic invertebrates.
