Description

This was but a small part of a huge flock of 75,000+ Semipalmated Sandpipers seen at one of the main staging areas in the Bay of Fundy (Johnson’s Mills, NB).

Standing Room Only

A majority of the world's Semipalmated Sandpipers stop to feed and bulk up in the Bay of Fundy in late summer, before making the big leap to their wintering grounds in South America. At their peak, flocks of more than 100,000 can be found foraging on the huge tidal flats!

An astonishing shot! How heartening to learn there are 75,000 left. Thanks for the good news.
