For days this strange bird visited the bird feeders. He was quite happy with the finches and sparrows. We searched every bird book unsuccessfully identify him. A request on Facebook soon gave us an answer. It’s an Australian Zebra Finch and is a caged bird in the US and had probably escaped. It is a member of the Finch family. After 6 weeks he disappeared.

This Australian Zebra Finch shares the birdbath with a sparrow. He stayed with us for 6 weeks then flew off.
