Description

Belted Kingfishers are skittish and notorious for not allowing one
to get too close. However, on this morning at a secluded
pond in Central KY; while tucked in among some small
willows photographing several Shoveler ducks, this
Kingfisher messed up lighting on a tree limb just above and
in front of me at basically ‘point blank’ range. She stayed there
just long enough to allow several clean shots before giving me
that, ‘Oh I really messed up and I think I’ll go fish on the other
side of the pond now’ look! I can’t speak for the bird but this
was a fortuitous surprise for me personally.
