Description

Last fall I had gone to the Southwestern Veterans Home in Pittsburgh because my father was soon to be admitted there, and I wanted to be sure it was the right place for him. After touring the facility I felt sad to think that he was moving out of his house into a nursing home, but I knew they would take good care of him. As I was leaving, I spotted a lovely crabapple tree full of Cedar Waxwings feasting on the fruit. I took it as a good sign that we had made the right choice. I’m glad to say father has adjusted well to the Veteran’s Home and every time I visit him, I look at that tree and remember the reassurance I had felt that day by the sight of those lovely Cedar Waxwings.
