Female Flicker In Snow

This female Northern Flicker (red shafted) visits daily. I love seeing her in all kinds of weather, and the snow shows her heart-shaped chest feathers more clearly. A joy to see in winter months, with a quick flick of that red/orange tail.

I think Flickers are beautiful, and fascinating to watch. I’m in Skagit county, and get multiple Flickers at a time coming to my diet feeders. They are mostly red shafted or intergrade between yellow and red.
