Description

The image was made during an afternoon session at a Free Fight demonstration at the Sonora-Desert Museum outside of Tucson, AZ. I was some distance from the bird but was able to anticipate his landing. On a late winter afternoon the sun was low and provided perfect illumination of the wings set against darkened Saguaro Cactus in the background. I used a Nikon with a 55-300mm lens powered up to the 300mm setting.
