Walking along a hiking trail, when suddenly what do I hear? An unfamiliar bird call. I follow the song, all the while scanning for movement. A new noise. A constant rapping against a hollow thud. There! Atop the large decaying tree. A Mother feeding her Son. I was actually watching AND photographing A Female Pileated Woodpecker feeding her baby. Maybe I’ll see her again this year.
