Description

January 21,2021: This mallard female was resting with a number of others in a fenced off area on the bank of the pond in Laurelhurst Park. She seemed unflappable – children, dogs, loud adults passed by and she didn’t stir. However, she seemed to find the click of my camera annoying and she opened one eye to give me a look.

She blends so well with the needles under the evergreens. Every feather is delicate, yet she is obviously hardy.
