One of my favorite parts of winter bird watching is watching the blue jays flock together in the trees. I can watch for hours as they carefully select their peanuts by picking each one up. They are always the first to sound the alarm if danger is near and yet they peacefully eat side by side with all of the other birds. When the sun hits them just right on a snowy morning it’s tough to find a better blue – grey combination for me.
