Description

I’m not sure if this is the beginning of head lice on the Cardinal or an injury. He was the only one out of 20 other Cardinals that day that looked like this.

Well I don’t think that it is an injury (there is not cut) and it isn’t malnutrition (The feathers are bright red, which is a sign that he is getting all of his food and nutrients) I searched up some pictures of lice on google and it appears that a lot of cases of lice on a cardinal start at the crest (like your cardinal) and it does not really affect the color of plumage. So in conclusion: This cardinal DOES have lice.
