Description
At dusk one evening last summer I went to bring in my feeders, to protect them from raccoons. As I reached for a feeder there was a sudden blur of movement which I knew was neither bird nor raccoon, so I left the feeder in place and waited…it turns out a family of Flying Squirrels were enjoying the peanuts and sunflower seeds on a regular basis. One night I counted seven of the tiny creatures. They were so much fun to watch and I did see them ‘fly’ on a few occasions. (This photo was taken by light of two table lamps which I placed on our deck)
