Description

I can’t say enough about how the Yardmap Habitat Network mapping system works to help us all build better wildlife habitats. At first I thought this Carolina Chickadee was looking for wintering insects in the dried swamp milkweed stems. On closer look you’ll see it is pulling those tough fibers off the milkweed for nest building materials! All my swamp milkweeds ended up with the frayed stems as seen here. March 26, 2018 And yes, they successfully nested in one of our bluebird boxes!
