Description

I took this photo in early November. At this time of the year, migrating Blackpoll Warblers are about to leave Boston after several weeks spent feeding frantically. When they have nearly doubled their body fat, they are ready to undertake the last leg of their trip: an incredible three-day, non-stop flight over the ocean, all the way to Colombia or Venezuela. The bird in the photo, definitely already a “well-rounded individual,” appeared to be enjoying a few last treats at a local park.
