Description

Several species of woodpeckers visit our backyard suet feeder but the Pileated Woodpecker always creates a little added excitement, especially when we have visitors that don’t normally see or even realize that we have such a large and magnificent woodpecker living around us. The Pileated Woodpeckers often announce their presence with calls from a nearby tree before swooping down to the feeder. This picture was taken on an overcast day that provided the overall coloring and mood.
