Description
These Peregrine Falcons are part of a Peregrine Falcon Recovery Program in Alberta. The program takes young, captive-born captive-raised Peregrine Falcons as well as some that have gotten grounded in dangerous urban environments to a hack box at 35-40 days old. The hack gets them used to being in the wild; they are fed and build up their flight abilities before being released. There are wild and former captive bred adults in the area as well. They also help the young ones to develop their hunting talents as well. These falcons (as well as many others) were chasing each other up and down the Pembina River Valley (Alberta). Since the program started, Peregrine Falcons have started showing up in the North Saskatchewan, Pembina, and Brazeau River systems.
