Description
An immature Cooper’s Hawk perched for hours on the edge of the birdbath. After awhile he stepped onto the rocks we’d placed in the bowl for the smaller birds. He then pulled on a water fill hose that we’d piped into the center of the bath, moving it up and down through the sleeve. After the brief investigation of our piping system, he continued his bath.
In answer to the question in the caption above: Both sides are delivering cold water to the bath. Here in the desert, we may only have a few hours of freezing temperatures in a day.
