Description
One of my favorite local spots is Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area’s Bittern Marsh and Redbub Trails along the dam. In winter, gulls and pelicans abound. Year round, herons, egrets, and osprey fish the area.
This past February I was able to assist with a winter sparrow survey then spend some time on my own. This Great Blue Heron was in a tree as I watched and waited for it to fly down into the Elm Fork of the Trinity River.
The Bittern Marsh trail is currently closed with dam construction. I look forward to getting out there again.

Impressive photo! I like how it shows all the different patterns of his feathers.
