Description

Whenever possible, we conserve trees that have died so birds can use them. Sweetgum trees are native here in southeast Texas and the one in our yard had died. We were able to keep the trunk and last April a pair of Carolina Chickadees decided that it would be the perfect place to build a nest. It was so rewarding to see how the old tree provided a home to the birds long after its life had ended.
