Description
Last year, I started a project I was very proud of. I had seen suet logs on a trip to Minnesota and decided to make my own! I made each feeder from local downed tree limbs and drilled holes on alternating sections of the logs. They hang from a hook in my apple trees in the backyard. Then I filled them all with homemade suet made from beef fat, oats, peanut butter, and extra goodies. The variety of birds was sort of shocking! They were designed specifically for woodpeckers, but we had chickadees, titmice, wrens, nuthatches, and even juncos!
