Description
During the worst snow blizzard of last winter, I was surprised to see this White-breasted Nuthatch climbing the trunk of an oak tree in search of food. Snow and wind made this task very challenging but the little bird persevered in its work for about twenty minutes before finally realizing that food and shelter were at hand a few feet away, under our porch.
