Description
About a week after we planted holly trees in our yard, a male northern mockingbird moved in. This medium sized songbird amused us with his repertoire of melodies, boldly mimicking blackbirds, blue jays, cardinals and others. When this brownish-gray bird found a mate, he ceased his nightly chorus, but continued to string together diverse tunes as he focused on building a nest and defending his territory.
