Description
Common in Hawaii, arrived naturally, yet no distinguishing features from mainland herons. While not a bright blue, the bluish tint fading into gray gives the male black-crowned the closest to blue as anything we have, save maybe a rock pigeon. This male often wanders across our backyard ledge hunting fish. Of course, most striking, the glaringly red eyes.
