Description
Me and my dad found this beautiful White-tailed Ptarmigan sunbathing in winter-like weather at around 12,000 feet at the Rocky Mountain National Park Alpine Visitor Center. it was enjoying a sheltered slope that was being bathed in early-morning sun by sunbathing, preening, and Dustbathing (as shown in this picture). as I was watching, the Ptarmigan hopped behind the rock it was sitting on and began to dustbathe. As it was fluffing up its feathers it flung dirt into the air and created a really fun picture. I thought that this picture most fully represents winter sunshine to me, and I hope it does to you as well.
