Description

This female cardinal (I call her Millie) showed up in my yard in early 2023 after I set up my first bird feeder. She and her mate frequented my feeder in spring of 2023 until the squirrels destroyed it and I had to take it down. The photos were taken in March and May 2023. I recently put up a new feeder and spotted her again today, Feb 6, 2024! She seems to be doing well, despite her unusual bill. While most cardinals feed directly from the feeder, Millie tends to stay on the ground below. Sometimes her mate can be observed bringing her food as well.
